DOCTOR APPT. & SPRING FUN

Well, we had the kids well-checks this morning! Baylor for 18 months and Averie for 3 years! Both went extremely well...Averie was a tad nervous but she only got a little teary eyed when she had to take her clothes off to be examined. Last year at two they didn't do that (probably because she was crying the whole time), so we didn't know that was in the plans. She also had to pee in a cup (which she has done before, but for a different reason...no potty in the car...use frozen coke cup instead...she thought it was silly). So, she had gone right when we got there in the waiting room so we had to take it back later (like an hour later while we were at Anderson's she went, so we dropped it back off at the Dr. and they checked it and it was normal). But everything really went well, Averie even got her blood pressure taken, it was so cute! The Dr. was happy to see such healthy kids and said they looked great (she said she sees a ton of couch potatoes these days). They are also growing right along the curve. Baylor is still small: 22lbs exactly (6th%) and 32.5" (51st%). His head on the other hand "greater than the 97th%" is what the percentile calculator said. Haha, lots of brains in there! Baylor is actually 2.5 inches taller than Averie was at that age. I am surprised! Averie weighed in at 31.5lbs (55th%) and 36.5" (30th%). So, they were both very healthy! And done with "healthy shots" (what we call them) until flu shots next fall!!! YEA!!!

Other than that we've been keeping pretty busy. Baylor is a ball of energy. He loves keeping up with his sis, playing outside has been so much fun with him this year so far. He explores, runs, climbs up the mulch hills around the deck, digs holes with his "fuh-vuh," he ALWAYS has at least one (usually one in each hand) rock in his hand as he is exploring. He really likes to swing, but only wants Mama to push him. Tonight while I cooked dinner, the kids kept following Daddy to the field with a wheel barrow full of sod. We are taking out parts of the sod to plant our seeds for our flower garden. We planted in preschool. All of our seeds have sprouted this week but the green peppers. I think the packet said those would be a week later anyways. We have Coreopsis, Sweet Peas, Marigolds, Green/Red Peppers, Cucumbers, Cherry and Big tomatoes, Daisies and at least one more I can't think of right now. And excuse the spelling. OH, can't forget the Sunflowers (Annie!). Those are going right in front of the barn. I've already cleared a space. The kids were...as I started to say...following Daddy to the field and helping him drop the grass/sod we were done with back there, then they would following him back. It was neat to watch both kids be able to explore and run around together. Averie is so into her swing. She swings on her belly and just flies! I can't wait to have the swing set up and put together. That is another project we have going on in the works right now. Averie is also a helper. We planted a pot of some fancy roses into three smaller containers to sit outside. She moved the soil for me. She also likes to water everything. Just wait till it's warmer, she won't put the hose down. The kids are also looking forward to the pool being open. Every time we go by it, Baylor says "Cindy." As in Miss Cindy, as in swimming lessons. So cute! Averie is also very good at playing and watching Baylor. She has been pushing him up our little mulch hill on the "motorcycle" (actually an old princess bike from Tay, El and Em) and helping him roll back down. They did this over and over today.

Right now, the house is quiet (I'm finishing this post at almost 9pm), I can hear the bird chirping outside because the window is open and it's still at least 60 degrees. I hear the kids white noises going too, but with all this fresh air, they have been sleeping very well. And I never have trouble really with naps, they have just been even longer! And more tired at night. Tomorrow we will be waking up a tad early and going to the bounce house again. I hope it isn't crowded, we are picking up Delaney and she gets to go with us this time. It should be fun, she is also spending the night to Saturday. That is the only plan for me for the weekend. Pending the rain forecast Daddy and Grandpa will be starting to tear up the deck! We have the supplies for our new deck already, so the sooner the better in my opinion! That is another project on the never-ending-project-list. I suppose I will end this long book now. I will go post a few pictures of what we've been up to lately! Ta-ta-for-now!

Finger painting fun (last week)!

Today after dinner. The many faces of silly Averie!

18 MONTHS

Sorry about the red face. You always get a red face from red pasta sauce and when I wear sweaters.

You are such a sweet snuggly little boy! I love you so much! I can't believe you are 18 months. I know it went fast with Averie, but you grew faster than fast. I am amazed at how you know so much. You are also very good at saying words and talking to us. You can do somersaults and go down the stairs using your feet. You love pushing the mower and you love your baths. You also love your blanket and Bob. You eat everything and anything we give you, 99% of it at least. You don't like egg salad and things of that texture. But you love veggies, fruit, sweets, meat...you are easy to please! I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. And how I felt like it took forever to count down those last few weeks. But now you're here and have been here for 18 months, yet it feels like you've always been here! You are also almost done nursing. You don't really request if often and I have only offering it to you when I'm uncomfortable. I hate to say it but you are growing up right before our eyes! Keep that smile on your face and keep the hugs and kisses coming...you are very loved, please always remember that sweet butta boy! HUGS and KISSES always! Love, Your mama

I also wanted to say so I don't forget, you have quite a temper. You are very aware and throw fits when things don't go your way. Today was one of those days while we were shopping. But you calmed yourself down just fine after 20+ minutes and 20+ stares from strangers!!! Oh well, I have patience for that and just let you do your thing, and you did! :o) LOVE YOU.

PROFESSIONAL PICS

We had professional pics done today! They went unexpectedly well! Baylor did cry, but warmed up and wasn't crying too much. A lot of sober pics, but I love those as well! These are the poses we purchased. We actually got the cd too and there were over 100 pics taken. ENJOY!!! The first 2 are my favs.

EASTER UPDATE

Easter at Grandma's house. This was a last minute pic so the kiddies are exhausted!

Cheese-ing for the camera!

Sitting on the step at church after a long morning of breakfast, egg hunt and church service. We went straight home for lunch and nap, then went to Grandma's after daddy got home from work. The pics above are from Grandma's.

Smiley-silly pic!

Jenny and Bronsen stopped by for a visit! Averie LOVES baby Bronsen. It has been the only time she smiles regularly without a cheese or silliness...when baby Bronsen is in the pic.

We had an egg-cellent (haha) Easter. Full of good food, great company and tons of fun! Some day though it will be warm on Easter so we can hunt for eggs outside. I remember warm Easters when I was a kid, in short sleeve dresses and sandals... maybe someday for my kids!

This week was full of visitors and excitement! Rece and Carmine (Tonia, Annie and Brandon too) on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and a little visit to them Thursday to say bye. Jett and Jayde (and Shawna) Tuesday and Wednesday and Bronsen (and Jenny) Thursday. Visit/playtime Monday, Bounce House & Lunch Tuesday, Playtime/Girls' dinner out Wednesday, Target Thursday. Today, Friday has actually been busy too, but we have been in our house all day. We had preschool after breakfast(we talked about I and J and made a place mat so Averie knows where to put her dishes, silverware and cup when she eats. I organized/cleaned all day and got up-do-date on several things that needed organized, cleaned, paid and looked at! So, I feel pretty good. I just need to get a few things in the check book and a shower and I'll be set! But it's getting very late...Baylor will be up anytime, so I'll go for now...more pictures soon!

BIRTHDAY GIRL!

Birthday morning age 1 - age 2 - and age 3. I can't believe the change!
Averie and her Doodlebop cake - Aves and Baylor - Averie and Mama
The cake - Averie and her new bed - Averie at Chuck E. Cheese

Happy Birthday Averie Jean! It is so hard to believe you are three...in about 20 minutes to be exact! I can remember all the details of your birth, the prep, how the sun was shining through the blinds in the surgery room (I told myself to remember that moment), how the Dr.'s were busy getting things ready and my Dr. was so calm and sweet (just like she always is). How you have grown, and how you are so smart! I sometimes can still look at you and see that little baby girl with the spiky hair, chubby cheeks and beautiful full lips! Everything about you is so sweet and wonderful these days! You are smart and learning many new things and are so eager to learn. You are curious and don't want to miss a thing either! I love how you are a tad rough, yet mothering with your brother because it shows your spunky-sweet side and how you still love to be rocked and cuddled and loved on! I hope you have a very special day today and you enjoy being three. We love you so much-more every day! XOXOXOX (more Bday pics to come, 3 year old princess is still sleeping).

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Not so happy about being outside!

Averie loves it!

Baylor warmed up to the idea!

They are making kissy noises to each other...

Happy to be outside for 15 minutes...

Then we came in and had hot cocoa! It was very nice!

Baylor is feeling much better. He stopped getting sick as of 5 on Sunday. And was very perky and hungry on Sunday for dinner. We only let him have some puffs and some Pedialite popsicles, but that was just enough for him anyways. He had a bath and played and crashed all night! Thank goodness! So, we're in the clear for now! Cross your fingers for a healthy rest of the season!!!

MAKE THAT 4 AS OF 5PM...

QUICK...AND SICK

Miss Artista...

Mr. Bubble Blower!

Swimming!

We had to suddenly start swimming last week after we found out that our instructor would be out of town this April and May (when we would have started swimming for Baylor). Now we are on a tight schedule to get him going and finished in less than 6 weeks because the pool we are using is closing for repairs the end of March! So, we started and Baylor is doing great! He's pretty much mastered breath control in 2 days and grabs and holds the bar very well. We resume with lessons tomorrow (off today b/c of President's Day). Averie is doing refreshers and learning the back stroke. She will take more "fun" lessons in June when Miss Cindy is back from out of town. Fun! Fun! And Averie came down with some sort of flu-like symptoms Saturday night. Poor girl has no energy to even move this morning. Here we go again with the sickness!!! Sorry to those people we haven't been in touch with lately (Janet and girls, Annie, Aunt Shannon, Aunt Shawna)...we are hibernating once again!

OUR MUD ROOM

BEFORE

BEFORE

AFTER

AFTER

We have a bench/cubbie area, cabinets, a gate so we can come in and out and not be licked by dogs. A nicer sink area, the dogs each have a new area that is bigger and more comfy. It turned out soooo great. We are very happy. Still on the to do list: Paint the back door white, hang curtain and trim the edges of the countertop!

BAYLOR is feeling better and started swimming on Thursday!

More updates on Baylor swimming later!!

BABY STEPS

This was last Friday when we went to the mall-before Baylor fell asleep in the MaiTai!

Playing with "oats" today. Feeling pretty good!

Averie enjoys scooping and pouring and mixing and dumping too!

Baylor felt much better as of last night, playing and enjoying himself, us and the toys. Today has been about 65% back to normal...baby steps!

STILL

SICK...he feels good for a few minutes and plays and is independent. Then, he is crying and clingy and snotty and miserable! It's been a rough week. The Dr. is still not concerned...but I keep thinking, how long can this last!!! I suppose I feel so helpless b/c he just isn't getting better and this is the longest either of them have been sick at one time. Hopefully I can get some pics up soon. Maybe during nap, if little boy takes a good nap. He (and I, even) sure need one!

BLAH

Poor Baylor. He was back on his feet and normal self all day yesterday, no fever or anything...then today, we ran errands after he had a bout of constipation (opposite of normal for him) in the morning...half way though the mall I had to carry him in the mai tai (good think I brought it in!) and he barely picked at lunch (opposite of normal again) and fell asleep in the mai tai (hasn't happened since he was tiny) while we were walking toward the Gap potty for Averie and then on our way home. So, we got him home and his fever was back to 102, he was crying and snotty and lethargic. It was kinda scary! He has been napping for 2.5 hours now not counting the 30+ minutes he slept in the mall. He ended up waking up for the drive home, but poor boy. I hope he drinks something when he wakes up, since he would barely eat lunch, I doubt he'll be interested in drinking anything but maybe from me (that is definitely a plus that he is still nursing)...he'll be at least getting those down! The Dr.'s said it is the trend that they have been seeing, the fever and symptoms are gone for a day, and then come back. Totally weird! I just want to go snuggle him...but he will be more rested sleeping in his bed. I'll post an update tomorrow or Sunday, hopefully we are better by then!

16 MONTHS

I can't believe you are 16 months old. It feels like just yesterday I was starring at the pregnancy test in complete disbelief (two years ago on the 30th of Jan.)! At a super faint line I thought I was imagining. Well, definitely not my imagination! You are so amazing. You are smart, funny, goofy, sweet and very entertaining. You love your independence for sure. You are self feeding most of the time and usually turn your head and whine when we even try to feed you. You love almost all food (canned plain mushrooms you did spit out once and you are not a fan of egg salad). You still eat like a champ though. I'm still waiting for the day you gain a lot of weight and are a chunk. But that is still not the case! The last couple days/nights have been hard for you. You have a stuffy and runny nose and cannot breath to nurse or when you are sleeping...so you've had extra snuggles and even slept with us for 6 hours last night...but I have no doubt in a couple days you'll be back to your own spunky, happy self. I took this pic during lunch...you were being goofy after a full lunch and you were pretty happy even though you don't feel well. :o) Keep on amazing us...we love you Butta boy!
